Display Validity

I have been asked to give a shortish display of French WW1 military postal history to my local philatelic society.
Of course, my main interest is France but I have several items of British Field Service and post cards which were sent from France by British soldiers. One series of 27 picture post cards are from the same man to the same girl and I have been able to identify both and the fact that they married in 1917 - an interesting piece of social history. (Maybe I should explain that I am, by qualification, a social historian).
My question is whether it would be valid to display some of my British Field Service cards (with their differing censor cachets) and a small selection of the above mentioned picture post cards, in a display of France in WW1 with appropriate explanations.
My inclination is to include the items since they originated in France but, of course, they did not use the French postal system being purely British military postal items.
I should be interested in the views of other members.
This is a display, not a competition entry so that might have a bearing on views.

I think you should feel free to display whatever material you like. My own interest in WWI includes anything that was posted in France and therefore includes military mail from the armies of other countries such as UK. I haven't yet displayed this latter material to the Society but may well do so at a future Charlecote weekend. As you suggest, there are rules in competitions that may well affect one's choice of items, but displays are intended to engage the interest of those viewing the material and can be as eclectic and eccentric as you like, provided they are coherent and tell a relevant story.

If it was a formal Exhibition with the usual rules you could probably legitimately display your British material if you worded the scope of the display accordingly. If its a Club display no-one would be in the least concerned ( based on my experience in Australia) about any deviation from formal Exhibition rules.
I certainly sounds as thouhg these items will make the display more interesting.

My own view is that a display to a general society can be approached in a more liberal manner and if the material is interesting and has some french element then it is accetable.
When displaying to a french specialised society then it probably would not as the basic substance needs to be french which this is clearly not.
Just my opinion!
